My name is Abizai Cano and I was born on the 23rd of May, in Iztacalco, Mexico. I’m a father of 4 amazing boys and 1 gorgeous girl! I come from a family oriented background, my family emigrated from Mexico to provide a better life for my brothers and myself. My mother and father still share their love, lecturing, and knowledge. For about 13 years of my life I studied Taekwondo and other styles of Martial Arts. I became really good at it and would practice 6 times a week for about 2-3 hours a day. Having attended many competitions, I was looking forward to making martial arts a big part of my life. A big part of who I am as a person, is due to my Masters who taught me about great discipline and respect. In my senior year of high school I became a father. Unfortunately, I had to leave school in order to work and provide for my impending family.
I started off working in a restaurant environment and have worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years. I started from the bottom to learn all the foundations of a restaurant and gained great knowledge in the process. I’ve come across great employers who took my hard work into consideration and offered me a manager position. Those who know me know that I have a big passion for cooking as well.
Rewind back to the year 2003 where my involvement in the dogs all started. My very first dog (male) I purchased was from a Pilipino man named Joe who lived in Los Angeles. The male I purchased was named “Barrera’s Blue Samurai” and was black and white. Afterwards, I would take my dog out with me everywhere and I met a man who had Camelot style dogs. He caught my interest in our discussions about different style dogs. After doing some more research, is where I ran into razor’s edge and greyline bloodlines. This led me to my next introduction to a man named Mike where I bought my next dog, “Chicano.” Mike introduced me to Warren from Do Good Kennels, Tiffany from Able Paws, and Mario and Rodney from New Trojan Kennels. In the process of meeting all of these breeders, I went to Richard’s house and saw Monster and Gotti while they were still young. As time went on and after seeing all of these dogs, I was really impressed and it just kept my interest going. However, I still felt there was something missing in what I had pictured in my head as a bully. I started researching some more with Mike and we found Tilo from Ruckus Kennels. For the first time, I had seen a dog closer to what I had previously envisioned, Blaze. Eventually through Tilo, I met Marco Suarez from Suarez Bulls Kennels.
This is where I saw Samurai Paco for the first time and was awe stricken. This was the dog I had initially envisioned all these years in the beginning of my journey at that present moment. As time went on I worked closer and closer with Marco who mentored me more and more about bully’s. Throughout my time working for Marco I met a variety of breeders from around the world.
Fast-forward to 2015 at the Lights Out Bully Fest V, is where I met Val Macedo from WBA/Seabad Bullys through Oscar from Blue Pride Kennels. They asked if I had the space to show Mufasa in the Champion Class. This was the first time I showed Mufasa and where my journey began with him. Throughout my time with the Macedo family I champed and grand champed out 5 dogs owned by Val. Thanks to Val’s friendship up until now, we have shared many eventful moments together as well as so much success! I’m glad to have been to able to share all of these moments and am very grateful to Val and his family for including me on their own journey as well. Due to this, we were able to take Grand Champion Mufasa all the way to be the top dog for 2016, with an astonishing total of 69 Best in Breed’s.
ABKC GRCH WARRIORS OF GOD SAMPSON IS also a great big part of my career. I met Sampson’s owners mark and Tammy Wagner #TEAMSAMPSON in Dinuba, CA at an ABKC show. I stArted to show Sampson all the way to the 2019 ABKC NATIONALS IN HOUSTON, TX were we successfully Winning the American Bully GRCH CLASS and BEST IN BREED NATIONAL WINNER. Is was a very emotional moment for us because that was there first nationals with a dog mark and Tammy produced. That was a great experience for me because ever since I can remember that’s always been my goal to achieve such success in a big event like Nationals. This was another Journey that I’m blessed to be part of. I thank Mark and Tammy from Warriors of God Bullies for making me part of this forever memory that will live in our hearts and memories for ever.
Along the years, i started the foundation of CANOS HOUSE OF BULLS. I have also produced some of my own Champions and Grand Champions. I have gained a great respect and trust within the bully community which enabled me to show and champion/grand champion other dogs as well.
Starting off this year (2017) I became a representative for Bullypedia for the West Coast. Bullypedia offers great programs, such as generations of Pedigree database, DNA profiling, breeding statistics etc. If you are looking to get your dogs certified with Bullypedia, feel free to contact me for more information. Can’t wait to see what else this year has in store for me!
was born into the dog show world, my mother was a dog breeder, handler and trainer for German Shepherds. When I was 3 years old I went to my Mom and said “ Me can do it”, meaning I could show dogs just like her, and I did and I haven't stopped. At the age of 10 years old I started to apprentice under Professional Handlers Mike and Shannon Stone. I worked for them for 5 years caring for up to 20 dogs. I did grooming ,handling and assisted at dog shows. I have also apprenticed under Bill and Taffy McFadden and Bruce Schultz, all top AKC professional handlers.
At 10 years old I also started showing in Jr. Showmanship. I really enjoyed traveling around the country showing my dog and competing against kids my own age. I quickly ranked in the top 20 Jr. Handlers in AKC, there are thousands of kids all over the country and I was in the top 20. I was extremely proud of this accomplishment. As I got older I showed and won many invitational shows and accrued enough points to show at Westminster Dog show in 1995. I also won the German Shepherd Nationals 2 years in a row for the years 1996 &1997.
In 1997 I quit showing in Jr. Showmanship and became a Professional handler and breeder of Top German Shepherds. I have bred, trained and shown multiple National winners in the USA and Canada.
I have several ROM animals - Register of Merrit – you receive this title when your animal has produced several champions.
I have bred well over 50 AKC German Shepherd Champions.
I have participated and helped teach at many Handling seminars at our GSD Nationals.
I started in Bullies in 2011, I found a local dog show and asked people if I could show their dog. I became hooked and fell in love with the breed. I have finished many ABKC dogs, won numerous Best In Shows and Trained multiple #1 ABKC dogs.
I have successfully won in IBKC, RKC and ABKC with my dog GCH Ramos Tuff Cookie. At 6 months old she won her first Best in Show,it was her first show and only her 2nd time ever in a ring. She became a champion at 1 years old at the 2015 ABKC Nationals and won best over classic. I believe I have proven that a female Classic can win and compete with #1 dogs.
I love the Bull breed and feel I’m knowledgeable in dog structure and movement. I believe I would be a great asset to the bully community by Judging the bull breed, following the breed standard and being true to the written standard. I believe that with my experience I will conduct proper ring procedure and judge with professionalism. The bull breed has so much potential to grow and I really want to become apart of the movement.
